Crying at Work

It’s a part of life. But try your best not to be that person that makes others cry.

With this many years of experience, it still gets to me when people take their personal issues and imbue it into work interactions that are seemingly unrelated.

In the end, we know hurt people hurt people and to me, that lack of self-awareness is a red flag.

For context, yes I’m crying at work. No, I’m not going to post this and blast the person on LinkedIn or Slack because I’m a professional. But this is my Medium, and my personal (not so private) space to vent and express myself in a creative way.

It’s what I want to teach my kids: Cry, yell, stomp, it’s okay. And channel that energy into exercise or mediation or art/writing, walk the dog, clean the house. But don’t share your negative energy with someone else just because it’s too much for you to handle. It’s true, we don’t know what someone else is going through.

Assume positive intent, that everyone is doing their best.

Keep your head up people, it’s still Mercury Retrograde or some shit like that.
