Chakra Queen

I first learned about Erica and her work Experience Seven Senses from my roommate. She told me about a retreat that was featured in Harper’s Bazaar and I thought, Well that sounds cool!

At that point I had manifested quite a lot: a loving relationship, a solid career, physical health and financial abundance. I was in a flow, though I knew in my heart as I ascended into this journey of awesomeness that there were some demons in the closets of my soul. They were so strong that even a puff of the safest and legal of plant medicines would take my mind into dark, lonely places.

After a few years of working with Erica, I can say that I’m much more comfortable now with inviting those demons for tea.

If you don’t know what a chakra is, let me ground this all in a more accessible language. Think of chakras as different forms of energy that you can use to learn about yourself and focus out into the world to make shit happen. Are you a kinesthetic learner like my Ironman husband? Do you love to move, feel easily grounded in your body? Or maybe you feel unsafe and hyper-vigilant, with chronic pain. This would be the root chakra energy. Like any other science or faith it’s really a framework of understanding for the world around and inside us.

Let’s put it this way. Here are some of the questions I’ve learned to answer for myself as I’ve studied chakras:

How can I experience less suffering and more peace?
What does it mean when I am triggered and reactive?
Where is my confidence?
Why does meditation work?
What is spirituality?
How does my mind limit myself?
How can I pay bills?
Why am I feeling lost?
How can I heal feelings of guilt?

I could go on. And life is better since I’ve even posed those questions for myself, regardless of the answer that will undoubtedly be unique and nuanced depending on the person.

I’ve searched for answers to these questions materially, physically, in ways that are obvious and not so much. Whether it’s graduating from college or getting a job, buying a home or getting reiki and acupuncture, I’ve been able to craft my own healing and manifestation journey: one that can include getting lit in Italy to Cardi B’s WAP and meeting Tim Ferris in a Barnes and Noble book signing. It’s a life of my own and Erica and her guidance have been a massive part of that.
